went from kids discovering things about themselves to romance drama. im sure the later half of the story is good in its own way but i cant really stand convoluted romance plots so i had to drop it. and this was such a good exploration of gender identity in the beginning…

the most fleshed-out and variety of trans characters I've read in manga, like ever. a really long read but it really makes it feel like you're growing up alongside the characters. this is definitely my new favourite manga

Great manga. I never thought I would read this. Didn't like it as much by the end, but I'm glad I saw it through. It didn't raise any strong emotions in me, so it didn't leave the strongest impression, but I still hold some appreciation for it.

chiba and her multiple attempts at a gaslighting into detransition speedrun
ngl I'm disappointed at how transphobia is framed in this manga, it's depicted as this completely natural response, especially since multiple positive characters still propagate it, and it's only condemned when it's a part of bullying.
The only adult trans person is a predator, and has a predator for a boyfriend
This author has an issue with confusing gender identity and sexual orientation(having trans women call themselves "gay" because they like men, or "becoming" women because they're gay) and it seems to be a bit better in this one, even if there's the whole part about Yuki becoming a woman FOR shii-chan(and not for herself) that I found strange.
Having the only existing trans masc character detransition later on was also weird, especially since Takatsuki had gender dysphoria even before puberty, which only intensified during it, so their experience was closer to a typical trans masc person than a typical detransitioner.
Overall while there were some relatable moments, taking in the whole manga made it feel like the person writing it only kind of heard about the experience from other people and didn't really try that much to properly understand it making it feel very half-assed

I have no words to process how well this manga was written. There are so many characters to keep a hold of but they've all played their roles well enough for me to like every single one. I thought Tatsuki-kun would end up with Nitori-chan at the end but instead, they both went their own paths even if one of their paths changed a different route. Although this is revolving around gender, this manga has multiple themes others can learn from such as, "It ok to change your mind midway" as long as it makes you happy, and such others.

It's so sweet I cried at the ending though it's not sad. Truly a beautiful story.

The more I read it the angrier I get... maybe it is because I just got to read Shimanami Tasogare and Hanayome wa Motodanshi, but I cant help to think that it is fucked up in many ways and a BIG fail... The author is making money on trans ppl while dennying them. Takatsuki even tied his breast and was so disturbed about his period... The author choosed to show all the signs of disfory then choose to denny it all. I dont get it.
PS: Oh and I HATE that sister to guts!

i have a certain opinion about this manga. since the start ive been shipping shuu and takatsuki so im kind of disappointed they didnt end up together. it bothered me how much of casual transphobia there is (i.e using the t-slur and all that). overall it lacks some things and isnt such a good book for trans kids as there is so much transphobia even by nitori's friends and the use of transexual instead of transgender. and yeah takatsuki the supposedly trans boy is actually a cis girl after all so no representation for us transmascs here

when i first read this, this manga struck me like no other. the plot becomes messy in later chapters but there is just something about this one...

Shuichi Nitori is a 5th grade student who likes to bake and has always been something of a feminine boy. When he transfers to a new school, Shuichi is mistaken for his 6th grade sister on his first day. Then he ends up sitting next to Yoshino Takatsuki, a tall, boyish girl who everyone calls “Takatsuki-kun.” They both have secrets they can’t let anyone know….
