It's a pretty simple, pretty short story.
While at a gay club and a little intoxicated, Sejun meets Jaehee, who stands out for his stark white skin. They go to the bar and start flirting, and when Jaehee asks if Sejun wants to leave with him, Sejun jumps at the chance.
The following day, Sejun wakes up, too wasted that night to really recall much of anything. Throughout the day, however, he struggles as his body goes through unique changes that he can't seem to placate. He has a constant headache, he feels sick and nauseous, a sweat constantly overtakes him, and he has this undying thirst that can't be met with just water. On top of that, his new tutor seems vaguely familiar, yet he can't recall why.
As it turns out, Jaehee is a vampire, and during their one-night stand, turned Sejun into one as well. Most of the story follows as Sejun deals with the symptoms and struggles to adjust. It's pretty straightforward.
There was a lot I liked about this story, and a bit I didn't like, or more so there was a bit I was confused with and wished was more elaborated on.
When Jaehee comes clean and confesses he turned Sejun into a vampire—or really it was more like reminded him, as Jaehee was forthcoming during their first encounter about being a vampire and wanting to turn him, Sejun was just too drunk to remember—he offers himself up to help quench Sejun's thirst. And as Sejun drinks Jaehee's blood, it starts to have a kind of aphrodisiac effect. He gets hard, and he's unable to control himself. So the last two chapters—mainly the fourth—are of these two fucking as Sejun feasts on Jaehee's blood. And I loved it.
I don't think I have ever seen a vampire story before have such heavy blood during an erotic scene, and I fucking loved it. I am of the unironic opinion of, if you create a vampire story, there needs to be at least one scene where there is erotic blood-sucking. That's, like, half the appeal of vampirism. So when a story goes that one step further and has them drink blood as they actually fuck, I fucking love it, I'm all for it. It's seemingly so rare and that's honestly shocking to me, it's such a no-brainer.
It's kind of crazy because as Sejun is sucking Jaehee's blood, he can't control himself. Because he's freshly turned he doesn't really have much control over such things. So, seemingly almost drains Jaehee to death . . . Which is fucking insane, but I kinda lived for it. But it does lead to one issue I have.
How does this work, exactly?
Traditionally, vampires cannot drink the blood of other vampires. It's either revolting, bitter, or just simply doesn't quench their thirst. Yet in this story, that does work. Obviously, it works because this story just . . . Has it work, it's not something that needs too much thought put into it, but considering nothing else about this story's version of vampirism seems untraditional, it does stick out quite a bit. I also question whether or not vampires are myths in this story's world or already accepted as reality—if this is meant to be our world, I feel like Sejun should have questioned why he's able to drink the blood of another vampire. But he doesn't. He also accepts that he's a vampire pretty quickly and I don't know if that's just because of who he is as a person or if that's because vampires are already accepted as being real.
And of course, since this is only five chapters, it is a bit rushed. You don't really get a good "feel" on why these two men like each other, beyond the surface-level attraction. I don't really mind it as it is good for what it is and what it offers, but Sejun being down to literally give up his entire life to run away with Jaehee was a bit . . . Out of left field
