Secrets of A/V Revealed

Guys, for professionals in the AV/AE industry, having sex for work is no different than having to make fries for the fry cook at a burger joint. It's a job. Every move is staged, choreographed and directed. It takes hours to film a 30 minute video. I worked in that industry for 20 years. And believe me when I tell you, it is no where near what you think it is. It is actually like every other "straight" job I have ever had. You go to work, you get your job assignments, you prepare your materials, then you do your job. At the end of the day, you go home. The only difference is in the product created. You all are putting WAY TOO MUCH glamour and romance in to what is really just another job like every other. Half the time, no, actually more than half, the guys have to have "assistance" just to maintain an erection and/or orgasm. Even then, most "money shots" are faked or caused by stimulation that has nothing to do with the person they are filming with. Not to mention, you are having sex while there are 10 to 20 other people in the room scrutinizing your every move and some are even telling you what to do and how to sound. Talk about distracting! Honestly, the job is tough on the body. Kinda like being a stuntman only naked. There are also very stringent rules and standards to be involved in this industry. Health check ups and tests are done before every job, which include STD and drug testing. Relationships between actors is frowned upon and even drinking too much will get you a reprimand... just like at any other job.

As for monogamy and promiscuity... professionals take their private lives very seriously. Their body is their money maker. If an actor or actress sleeps around outside of work, it shows a lack of respect for their body. In AV/AE we have to trust our bodies to our colleagues. If you can't respect your own body, how can I trust you to respect mine? Promiscuity is a career killer. No one will work with you.

The sex you see in professional porn is all fake. The sensual, loving looks (if there are any at all) are all an act. You don't watch an action film and think that the car stunts are all unscripted, do you? So, why is it that when sex is involved, the scene is automatically real and true? That is ridiculous and naive.

I could go on and on, but I will end with this... If you ever got to see what really goes on behind the scenes in professional porn, you'd laugh your ass off. There is not one sexy or sensual thing about it.

I think a lot of people on here are just teens and so it's hard to see AV and the sex industry as just a job for them. That said, it's super kind of you to explain this, even though it may fall on deaf ears. We need more education when it comes to this industry and less stigma.

Very true, which is why I take the time to share my experiences. If even one person learns a little something from what I write or stops to reconsider their position before passing judgement, then my job is done and I am happy. So, even if most ears are deaf, it is still worth it. Thanks for your encouragement though, it made me happy.

Yeah, thanks for setting that straight and explaining what industry porn is. Yearly turnover from porn is larger than from Hollywood films.
And, if I might add, sex is not love.

Too right, the turn over is incredibly high. Most people just starting out Don't make much money and the work itself is hard on the body. Not to mention that most people can't exactly brag about the job they do either. So, newbies tend to quit pretty quickly. You are too right again, sex is not love. Sex is merely a physical act that is commonly used to express feelings of love. They are not one and the same.

I saw just now that you are a fan of Helix Studios. So am I. I love their take on things and the Quality of the productions. :D
Hopefully as a big well known company they pay their actors well.

For A/V, their production quality, sets and cinematography are way beyond the norm. Their Ascension of the Lamb series is incredible! The acting is a little stiff in places, as is to be expected for A/V, but the cinematography and direction really make you forget you are watching gay porn. Well, until dicks go in asses, that is! LMAO I've been out of the industry for more years than Helix has been around. So, I have no clue how they treat their actors. However, they do have a fairly high turnover. Even the 2 boys in my avatar are no longer with Helix. That said, A/V, and especially gay A/V, is an industry that is very demanding, both from the audience and from the production companies. Audience members get bored so easily and are always seeking something new or bizarre. It really puts actors through hell if they are your basic vanilla gay guy, or worse, if they are only doing gay porn to pay the bills. For better or for worse, A/V is an industry that will force you to reshuffle your priorities. LOL

Yeah, I can imagine that the audience constantly wants more and the competition is surely hard. And tastes are always shifting. The ematiated emo type I very much liked is out of fashion now and there seem to be a trend to spectacled muscle twinks.
Helix though does not seem to go to the very extremes as for instance Staxus.
The latter one featuring BDSM and even fisting...

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR COMMENT!
I was going crazy at the amount of comments saying they wanted the seme to quit his job. So knowing that I'm not the only one who hasn't anything against it and understand it, it's reassuring.
