they were up for 3 days, add booze and too much vigorous exercise, and their bodies couldn't cope. exhaustion could be one way to explain it, but there is so many different issues. odds are they both had stress induced heart attacks. they were so passionate they didn't even realize it until they passed.

Until recently stress induced heart attacks in young people were a major problem in countries like Japan that didn't promote a healthy work life balance. Mostly related to lack of sleep and overwork. Now I believe there is a limit to how much overtime one can do. People can/will die from exhaustion or lack of sleep. There was a gamer, think he lasted 6 days or 7. Died of a heart attack on his gaming setup. He was very young. Sleep is very important for your health. I was once up for 3 days, I has chest pain, edema, and my blood pressure was insanely high. I slept for 16 hours and was back to normal.
