Its crazy how at the end of season one my whole perspective of the main characters flipped ... that family really fucked heesoo over, not only did mr cha knew who killed the mom all along and yet kept quiet but also he tried to compensate in the slimmest way possible by making heeso rely on him ...it's ni wonder he felt guilty about the whole thing and tried to make himself feel better by "taking care" of heeso ... just to then abruptly stop. He should of left him alone from the very begining ... Imo he is deserving of whatever shit and suffering will come his way next like that stuff we saw on the first ch

I understand why you think that way.

Back when Tae-Kyung was a teen he ran in the burning cathedral and rescued Hee-seo, who he saw was still alive, he got seriously injured by broken glass and burns on his back. He saved the child he was a hero.

He had suspension because he briefly saw what looked like his adoptive mom's car, he saw bandages on her arm when he got home, he was a kid, she always treated him kindly, he figured his mind was making things up. He was scared, as a orphan having a loving parent is a dream. He didn't want to risk being wrong and losing a loving home.

Imaging that kind loving mother murdering the first person who was ever kind to him was a nightmare, he hoped wasn't true.

As a teen he worked many part time jobs to send money to help take care of Hee-seo, as a kid he didn't know what else to do in that position, he was an orphan himself before being adopted but he saved the child and felt responsible. He hope he was adopted by a loving family as well.

Maybe taking care of Hee-seo eased his conscious, anxiety or guilt, this child was precious enough for him to instinctually risk his life to save him numerous times.

His suspicions of his mother were finally confirmed after he was an adult and reinvestigated the case. He wasn't completely sure back then. Though he should have turn her in but she pull the health/dying card.

Going home he wanted to talk to Hee-seo but Hee-seo was exactly calm which is understandable. Tae-kyung conversation with his mother replayed in his head he lost confidence if he could truly help heal him, he didn't seem able to handle hearing the full truth. In his own way he tried to be considered was just done clumsily.

During one of Hee-seo tantrums he got his arm and leg broken falling off a roof protecting him.

Being cold, turning his back during Hee-seo mental breakdown wasn't the brightest decision. Soon as he woke up he still wanted to protect Hee-seo, how many wounds does he need to have, that's not simply out of guilt. Seems more complex.

Tae is obviously dense and bad at processing emotions, even his own. Making decisions isn't his strong suit.

Both Tae and Hee have many scars hopefully they can both be healed in season 2
