Two adults talking about marriage and Xaomi asks Jiang if he likes him. In my opinion, this is inappropriate. "Do you want to marry me because you love me" should be the dialogue. In English, children on a playground say, "Do you like me." Adults who are serious use the word, love. Adults are lovers, not likers.
I know that Asians use like and love as near-synonyms, but in English the two terms aren't interchangeable.
I should say that they aren't necessarily interchangeable. Sometimes either like or love can work
