I'm a bit torn on this. Like I get what you mean, bad translations can do more harm than good because a story can turn out like total crap and people won't want to buy the official work. As a translator, this is quite interesting to read.
Lots of translators just did it in their spare time so that YOU, who doesn't speak another language, could read a work. Also, tons of them didn't have English as their mother language, so its totally understandable. The translators that use google translate also are using THEIR time to do that. ...... 1 reply

Usually if you see wonky translations, it’s either a non native English speaker trying their best or a newbie in the field.... also trying their best. My best advice is if bad translations annoy you, then offer to PR (proofread) for whoever’s scanning.
It helps them, the audience gets a better reading experience, and you’ll probably get acc...... reply
