I made this question because I want to genuinely know, do people actually sit down at the dinner table to eat with their family?
I had the conversation with my cousin before. I remember the time she asked, ‘If I ate dinner with my family,” and I remember laughing being like who eats with their family..? I told her I ate by myself. That the only times I ate with my family is only when we have parties/events at my house and if we did, everyone would be on their phones when I ate with them. So I mostly ate by myself at the dining table, in my room, or not at all
I remember my 5th grade teacher telling my class that it’s important to eat as a family at the table because it builds a bond. I didn’t believe her at that time, but now I’m older I realized she’s right.

As long as i can remember me and my family would eat together. Even after my parents divorced 9 years ago and we all had a rough time, we still do it now. Sure it took some time, but after a few years my parents were kinda like friends again, so my dad comes to dinner every sunday.

I have to. It's a rule in my family. You can never eat in your room, and I think so too. I wouldn't allow it myself. The room would smell, crumbs or whatever and then you'll have to clean your room, and I'm super lazy.
I sneak snacks in my room occasionally tho-.

I have this type of mindset when I eat, I feel like when I’m at the table I’m not allowed to talk or laugh bc I was always yelled at as a child. The table is always quiet, so I find family dinners really uncomfortable but that’s just me.

Yep. My parents have this rule that if you don’t eat as soon as the food arrives on the table, don’t blame the people eating if you have no more food left. So everyone scrambles to the table, when there’s food haha. I guess it forces us to eat together lmao hahahaha and we literally just eat and usually talk after eating. all I have is my grandma and my mom. if I don’t end up in the dinner table I get double the nagging. and I can’t really escape them since I’m the one who always cooks for them, so we see each other everyday by the kitchen and dinnertable reply
