maybe you could ask him to start as friends - to get to know him better (so you can see if he really is like you imagined him) and to evaluate if he really is serious?

I think you need to get to know him better to see what he's really like. Maybe you two have a mutual friend or so? It'd be easier this way.

you can ask him if he really meant his confession, or truly like you or not, or the reason behind his confession. and if you can accept his explaination, then maybe you two can date.

That's rough buddy. :( If you're gay I understand if you think twice about his confession but if you're in highschool then a big probability is that he's... a jerk who's probably playing bets with his friends. Just enjoy high school life without complications you'll have plenty of chance when you're a little older. ;) Sorry for this unusual advice.

school-environment can be rather scary, especially if it`s only a bet (because that means he will tell others that you`re gay and rumors will start to spread around)
but that doesn`t mean there is no chance for gay love in school at all - it is difficult and it is risky and not like yaoi-fantasy, but not impossible.

it is important how you got the confession: did he tell you personally? or did you get a letter not even knowing if it really is from your crush?
if it`s a letter, confront him with it asking what that should mean and what he wants from you.
and you could ask him what he likes about you respectively when/why he fell for you and watch his reaction.
if his reaction isn`t too suspicious, ask him to be friends (first) and get to him better - so you can find out if he is he the type to play with peoples feelings for fun or for bets?

ask ur friends or his ex about him (especially the ex lool).and see if his friends are jerks or not. try to be friend with him and just hang out together ... u will get to know him better and then decide u will know wt to do (≧∀≦) good luck wish 4 ur happiness ε=ε=(ノ≧∇≦)ノ

i don't know how to make friends and if I can be friends with him then I should have been able to do it already before.... I kind of just smile at him but inside the feelings are just so amazing but because I kind of thinking that maybe he was just doing it for fun I turned around and kind of never come back.... i'm kindda feeling bad on what I but its kind of scary to be in the relationship that you don't know if your lover really does love you or not....:((
