i think it's the failure of the fans, not the authors. You fail to understand that the "rape" element of a story is multi-leveled. It's symbolic. It's a dramatic opening device that is meant to grab your attention hard and draw you into a story immediately so you don't move on to someone else's more exciting manga.
You're so focused on rape that you can't use your mind to notice other symbolic elements. For example: hickeys. Maybe you don't know this, but In RL no one gives out hickeys. It's a stupid, gauche thing to do. It's a wound, and you'd better not ever do it to anyone. It will probably ruin the mood and make your partner angry.
It's used in a story as a signal to the reader that intimacy has occurred. This area of RL is deficient of surprise-visual tells for authors to use.
If you'd stop being so hung up on rape in fiction, something that most of the world doesn't have under a microscope, you might let these "rapes" sink into the fabric of the story instead of turning you into a rape-freak who only thinks about literal RL sex and violence. If you'd let go of some of that laser focus, you could get these events into perspective. Take a writing class or something, Rape is not being used as someone's personal perversion that they are ramming down your throat with the intent of offending you. That's stupid.
If I sound harsh it's because these rape/sex discussions are tiresome. Some people might like to comment on something other than rape. Not every story has to have a protest rally in every comment section. It's disturbing to the rest of us to see a whole generation of people focused on figuring out who has raped who. We wonder what kind of future such people will make. Most of us don't want you in our bedrooms holding a rape trial, and we don't want you in our entertainment either.
It's obvious that the people holding these discussions don't know enough about sex to understand what is symbolic and what is RL violence. You think you do, but you don't. If you did, you wouldn't be sitting here analyzing rape all the time. You wouldn't need to. You'd have much MUCH better perspective. you think you're demonstrating your ability to see what's right and wrong. What you're really demonstrating is that society has good reasons for restricting these stories to adults only.

1) The way you describe rape is true to literature, not so much manga/mangwha/webtoons, unfortunately. The genre is centered around instant gratification and dramatization. Sex is rarely ever explored as a multi-faceted phenomenon. It's just sex. Characters' motives may be discussed, but that conversation only goes so far before visuals take over and the main focus shifts to the physicality of sex.
2) Fiction is a reflection of real life....hickeys are definitely a thing. People like to give hickeys and receive hickeys. Where you dug this up is beyond me, but I'll entertain it: if hickey's are just a fictional literary device, with no relevance to real life, how was the idea of giving and receiving hickey's conceived in the first place?
3)Just like sex, rape is a multi-faceted issue. These kinds of discussions are helpful (although more so on other platforms and in reference to actually cases). The fact remains there plenty of rape victims that do not even realize they have been rape until after the fact. It's complex and involves power dynamics, emotions, past experiences, nonverbals and individual perspectives on the definition of "rape" itself. There's rarely ever an open and shut rape case, and this is why.
I, on the other hand, am glad these discussions are being had, because now the complexity of rape is being brought to the forefront.
3) I think they actually understand that rape is more than manga artists, webtoon artists, and etc are willingly to let on. As an adult, you would expect the stories that you read to be more realistic and have the capability to discuss serious topics maturely. As I said, literature is better at doing this than mainstream manga/mangwha/webtoons etc. The people who make these arguments are catching onto the fact that mangka and etc do not know how to discuss these issues let alone put on a realistic representation of all the underlying emotions that play into rape. Basically this "adult only" medium is not written for a predominately adult audience......
Nah man. Rape in yaoi is literally just rape for the sake of rape. Don't pretend there's any real rhyme or reason to it. If you need this kind of "shock factor" for almost every single work in a genre, then I'm sorry sis but it's pure bs. Most yaoi is just plotless fluff and romantized sexual assault anyway, no need to justify your fetish
As for me, I think yaoi is shit and when you're telling me I gotta see someone's rape fetish as some kind of multi-faceted symbolic bullshit, then that's only proving my point. If that's what you need to make a story intriguing...lol nope

Since rape is such a controversial topic, there will always be discussions about it.
I think it´s good to discuss it sometimes, so people (especially young inexperienced people) won´t think about rape as normal behavior.
But sometimes it can be annoying, when people ignore the rape-tag and are upset about the rape.
I differentiate two kinds of rape in manga:
- Using rape in a interesting way, to show drama and tragedy (something like "Warehouse" or "Zankoku")
- Using rape in a dumb way, sadly most of rape yaoi. Something like "seme rapes uke, uke falls in love in seme, happy end"
And since I´m a M with a rape fetish, I also judge the quality of the rape itself.
Like, are actions and reactions realistic, or how well the mangaka can convey the feeling of helplessness, embarrassment, resistance, pain.
Yeah, good rape should have tears, ropes, bruises, pain ε=ε=(ノ≧∇≦)ノ
